1 Brytyjski Suweren Au 917 - 7,98g
The British Sovereign is the oldest bullion coin still in circulation – its history dates back to 1489 and the reign of King Henry VII, while the modern, currently produced version was created as a result of the monetary reform of 1817.
The Sovereign coin is distinguished by its characteristic, warm shade of gold, which is due to the small amount of copper in the alloy. It is minted in the fineness of 916,7 (22 carats), containing exactly 7,32 g of pure gold, with a total weight of 7,98 g. The copper content gives the coin its characteristic warm tone and significantly increases its resistance to scratches and deformations compared to coins minted in the fineness of 999,9 – thanks to this, sovereigns even sold over a hundred years ago often retain a very good condition.

The Oldest Bullion Coin in the World
The Sovereign is the only bullion series that documents over two centuries of the British crown succession – over the years, the portraits of George III, Victoria, Elizabeth II, and since 2023 Charles III have appeared on the obverse. The reverse, depicting the scene of St. George fighting the dragon, was designed in 1817 by the Italian engraver Benedetto Pistrucci, and this composition has continuously accompanied the coin for over two centuries, making it one of the most recognizable and historically significant investment coins in the world.
