The 10 Dollars Liberty Head gold coin, commonly known as the „Eagle”, is one of the symbols of the American gold rush of the 19th century. It was minted between 1838–1907 in the mints of Philadelphia, Carson City, Denver, New Orleans, and San Francisco.
The obverse of the coin depicts Lady Liberty’s head facing left, wearing a crown with the inscription „LIBERTY”, surrounded by thirteen stars representing the original colonies. The reverse shows an eagle with outstretched wings, holding arrows and an olive branch in its talons. The designer of the coin was Christian Gobrecht.
